Description
Processing Characteristics
Structurally, the insert features six effective cutting edges across its two faces, offering high tip strength, excellent overall rigidity, and superior impact resistance. Its negative-rake design results in a robust cutting edge that is highly resistant to chipping, making it ideal for heavy-duty roughing and interrupted cutting applications. It is suitable for machining carbon steel, alloy steel, cast iron, and cast steel, and can process heat-treated hard materials up to approximately HRC50. When paired with a thick CVD coating, it exhibits high heat resistance and wear resistance, making it well-suited for high-volume, heavy-duty turning operations. While its cutting resistance is slightly higher than that of positive-rake inserts and its surface finish is generally moderate, it excels in roughing and semi-finishing tasks; it is not recommended for ultra-high-precision, mirror-finish turning applications.
