ODMT Insert
The ODMT is an octagonal, positive-angle, single-sided milling insert featuring a 15° relief angle. Common sizes include ODMT0404 and ODMT0605, designed for use with the OD series of face milling and multi-purpose milling cutters. Boasting eight cutting edges, it offers exceptional cost-efficiency; select models are even reversible for double-sided use. The inserts feature sharp edges and a light cutting action, while a dual-positive rake angle design ensures smooth chip evacuation and resistance to chip adhesion. Highly versatile, they are suitable for machining a wide range of materials—including steel, stainless steel, and cast iron—and are capable of performing roughing, semi-finishing, and finishing operations. Combined with an ultra-fine grain substrate and PVD/CVD coatings, they exhibit excellent wear resistance and thermal stability; however, they are not recommended for heavy-duty roughing of ultra-hard materials.
ONHU Insert
The ONHU is a square, double-sided, 16-edge negative-angle face milling insert, featuring a 0° relief angle and a 45° lead angle. Common sizes include ONHU0504, ONHU0604, and ONHU08T6, designed for use with 45° face milling cutters such as the FMA07 series. Its core advantage lies in its 16 effective cutting edges (eight per side), offering outstanding cost-performance and making it ideal for high-volume production environments. The double-negative geometry combined with an extra-thick insert body ensures high impact resistance and stability during interrupted cuts and heavy-duty roughing operations. Equipped with a wiper edge, it delivers superior surface finishes even at high feed rates. Suitable for various steels and high-temperature alloys, it excels in roughing and semi-finishing applications involving large depths of cut and high feed rates; however, it is not suitable for use on low-rigidity machine tools or for light-load finishing passes.
PNMU Insert
The PNMU is a pentagonal, double-sided, negative-angle, high-efficiency face milling insert featuring a 36° lead angle. The common size is PNMU0905, designed for use with the MFPN series of high-feed and deep-cut milling cutters. With 10 cutting edges (five per side), it strikes an excellent balance between high efficiency and economic value, featuring an H-class tolerance grade and a built-in wiper edge. The combination of a large positive rake angle and an optimized lead angle results in low cutting resistance and strong feed capabilities, while the robust geometry ensures high rigidity and excellent vibration damping. Suitable for a wide variety of materials, it excels in general face milling as well as high-efficiency roughing and semi-finishing of large flat surfaces. The PVD coating provides excellent wear resistance, making it well-suited for high-volume production; however, its performance in light-depth finishing passes is not comparable to that of specialized finishing inserts.
